Do Work

This past weekend I spent in Lexington. As a Louisvillian, I was not pleased to see so much UK stuff, but as a Wisconsite, I thoroughly enjoyed Lexington. It's not my first time there and certainly not my last. The Saturday before I also spent in Lexington for the World Equestrian Games volunteer training. I am so excited to be a volunteer! I was in Lexington this weekend for the American Horse Publications Annual Seminar. It was meant to be a networking opportunity for me, but I think I learned more than I networked. Networking is difficult for me, being an extreme introvert. I managed to hand out and get a few business cards, however.

While there I attended eight seminars and I learned a lot of valuable information about the equine publishing industry, an industry I am considering entering. The next several blog posts will be my summary and thoughts on each seminar. As someone currently not in the industry, with equine experience and a young perspective, I think I have some insights and comments that may be helpful or at least thought provoking. I intend to have a few up by the end of the day.

After this series of blogs following the seminar I will have a series of blogs on the horseback riding lessons I will soon be taking. A marvelous thing called Groupon sent me a huge discount on riding lessons at the Louisville Equestrian Center. For $79 I got a free evaluation lesson, and three group lessons. The stables are primarily saddleseat but I would like to try dressage or hunter jumper, as I have done neither of those and don't care for saddleseat very much. My background is showing Western and English on the POA circuit, which I will elaborate on sometime.

So, be looking for my seminar, lessons and background blogs soon!

PS. Please point out typos if you see them as I am in a rush and cannot check on Word at this time. Thanks! :)
